Bjärred Is So Collective

The proposal earned third place in an international competition featuring over 100 teams from around the globe. Bjärred is nestled amidst breathtaking natural landscapes—rivers, wetlands, coastline, farmland, and forests. At both regional and local levels, the project offers a visionary strategy to weave these natural elements into the very fabric of the city and its new developments. It reimagines the surrounding landscapes—forests, hedgerows, meadows, and the interconnected blue networks of wetlands, bogs, and lakes—bringing them closer to everyday urban life.

This approach not only paves the way for a sustainable future for Bjärred but also strengthens its unique identity, enriches residents’ quality of life, and boosts resilience against climate change. The plan fosters a vibrant, sustainable lifestyle supported by innovative public transport and green mobility, shaping a thriving, dynamic ecosystem for Bjärred’s future.
